I hope you are all doing well.
I am pleased to share that the theme of the next EU SLT Day will be:
“Protecting communication as we age”
EU SLT Day 2027 will be celebrated in Copenhagen, and we look forward to bringing our European community together around this important topic.
Communication remains fundamental throughout life. As we age, changes in health, cognition, hearing, voice, language or swallowing can affect our ability to communicate, participate in everyday life and maintain relationships with others. Protecting communication therefore also means protecting autonomy, social participation, dignity and quality of life.
With an ageing population across Europe, it is increasingly important to raise awareness of the role of speech and language therapists in supporting communication across the lifespan, as well as the need for timely access to appropriate assessment, intervention and support.
More information about EU SLT Day 2027, including the programme and activities in Copenhagen, will follow over the coming months.
I would also like to highlight that the Call for Abstracts for the ESLA Congress in Porto in May 2027 has now been published.
As Chair of ESLA, I strongly encourage all our member associations to share the Call for Abstracts widely with your members and professional networks. Your support in promoting the Congress is extremely important to us and will help ensure strong participation from across Europe.
We hope that the Congress will reflect the breadth of excellent clinical, academic and professional work taking place within speech and language therapy, and we very much hope that your members will contribute by submitting abstracts and joining us in Porto.
